‘So You Think You Can Dance’ season 11 will feature individual winner, different eliminations

So You Think You Can DanceWhile some reality shows tend to keep almost every aspect of their show the same from one season to the next, “So You Think You Can Dance” is one that tends to shake things up at almost every opportunity that it can.

For the new season premiering on Wednesday, we already know that there are two key changes that will shake up the endgame of the show pretty dramatically … and largely in a good way.

1. No more male / female winners – This adds to the stakes so much more to have the guys and girls competing against each other in the end, and not just people in their own gender. it also makes winning that much more special, since you suddenly have a 5% chance of it happening at the top 20 rather than a 10%.

2. Different eliminations at the top 10 – Previously, Nigel Lythgoe and the judges were the responsible parties for determining whether or not someone was going to be going home after America picked the bottom few dancers for the live shows. This is going to change now, as the show will be allowing America to control the eliminations outright. This means that the potential for shock exits is much higher, and you also will not have someone saved three or four times by the judges who you know is not going to win deep in the competition.

Hopefully, these changes are things that could bring some more viewers back to the show, given that it does deserve them. There is no competition out there quite like this one; it’s artistic, fun, and extremely well-produced.
