‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Phoebe Tonkin on ‘dark,’ sad version of Hayley
When “The Originals” season 2 returns for new episodes this fall, there is one thing that you can certainly expect when it comes to the Hayley character: Not a whole lot of smiling. She’s reeling from the fact that she is no longer just a werewolf, and her baby Hope is now the only reason that she is around … but in a hybrid form.
As Phoebe Tonkin herself explains in a new interview with E! News, you have to expect this to be something that causes her character to really sit around and question everything, and not being able to actually have her child around (given that they gave her to Rebekah to be safe) is only going to make things worse:
“We’re going to see a very broken, a very lost Hayley. She doesn’t know who she is anymore. She not only doesn’t know where she came from, she doesn’t know who she is right now. It’s sad and it’s heartbreaking.”
Tonkin also added that so far, she has not had any opportunity at all to share a kiss with Daniel Gillies’ Elijah, which means that this sudden onset of trauma could mean a temporary halt in the romance department. Could it pick up again at some point in the future? We have to think so, but it’s going to take a little bit of time. No show likes to give away all of the good stuff in its first episodes.
In a rare arrangement, “The Originals” season 2 started filming this spring, but there is a lengthy hiatus still coming up that will carry through most of the summer.

“We have to think so”
How about we hope not? I hope that storyline dies a quick death and is never mentioned again.
I would like to see Hayley as individual character far away from Elijah. I
want her to move out of Klaus’ house and figure out what she’s going to
do next and what she wants for her. I don’t want to see Elijah
babysit/try and fix her her the way Stefan tried to babysit and fix Elena
when she was turned.
Elijah is still trying to “fix” Klaus and hoping Klaus will revert to the person he was before he was a vampire over 1000 years ago and that’s just not possible – a lot has happened to Klaus and he’s changed over time. So I think Elijah will do the same to Hayley – he’ll try to fix her won’t accept her for who she really is (I don’t even think Elijah actually knows her that well at all to begin with because all they do is just stare at each other – there’s been no development there and they barley know each other).

I totally disagree. I think they clearly established they care about each other. How and when to bring them together is the thing and keep it all interesting. Klaus can make it interesting as well. There definitely is two or more sides to Klaus and what makes him tick is very interesting. People can come and go but who and what situations stick and hold everyone’s interest is Key. Marcels character is also important and how they continue to interact. Not just cause and effect. What is needed is a big picture that the audience can grasp and hold on to why all the characters are being built up to there best ability. There are so many possibilities with this show. Its awesome I hope the writers use it to its best potential as I know it can be. This show is special…. I know I love it.
