‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18 finale: Mark Ballas’ future in jeopardy after ‘serious’ injury
Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars” finale has officially added another layer of drama now, and it is coming via an injury to one of their most-notable professionals in Mark Ballas. Thanks to this, his appearance tonight with celebrity Candace Cameron Bure is in jeopardy.
The injury itself was a pretty violent one that happened during rehearsals, and of course he was treated for it immediately. Speaking to People Magazine, a spokesperson for the show had the following to say:
“Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking … His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to perform on Monday’s show.”
This is clearly not the first time that a pro dancer has injured themselves badly during the competition, and there are typically two courses of action that come as a result.
1. Someone takes their place for the routines – There is almost always someone at this point waiting int he wings, and while it is hard for a new pro do get the choreography and the chemistry down right away, it is possible.
2. The pro just gives it a shot anyway – While this is risky, many pros on the show have danced before with serious injuries. It wouldn’t surprise us if Mark is out there again tonight, but with a few moves here and there modified to keep him from aggravating his injury. He may be helped thanks to the fact this is the last week, and he will have some time to recover after the fact.
