‘Ink Master’ season 4, episode 12 podcast: Why is Halo not in the finale?
Were you as surprised as we were to see Halo go home right before the finale on “Ink Master” season 4? He’s been a pretty consistent artist all season and someone that has shown the full gamete when it comes to his tattooing skill set, so why is he not in the finale?
In this edition of the CarterMatt podcast: The Ink Master edition, Jessa and Bart will be taking a deeper look at why Halo didn’t make it to the finale and why he should be there over some of the other artists that did make it.
Scott Marshall is the favorite to win (in the judges opinion anyway), so it wasn’t too much of a shocker to see him go to the finale on a cover up tattoo that didn’t actually cover anything up. We saw King Ruck and Jim Francis land in the bottom during cover up week for using yellow in their tattoos (and their cover up tattoos were also visible), but Scott made it through using the same strategy. Matti has admitted that he can’t do lettering (and we’ve seen that he can’t) a basic skill that an Ink Master should know how to do, but he also beat out Halo for a spot in the finale three. What happened here? We will also talk about Sausage and how even though we feel he deserves the win, he will probably lose out to Scott Marshall and why we think that will happen.
Agree? Disagree? Make sure you weigh in below in the comments section and tell us who you think is going to win this season of “Ink Master”.

Couldn’t agree more. Halo should have been in the finals. Sure he did flowers twice, but if that’s what his skin wanted and had picked out already, what do they expect him to do. They talked and talked about how much influence America had on who will be ink master, but after all, there was no influence at all, it was all up to the judges and with that, NO, not much surprise that Scott won. If it would have been up to the audience, he would have never made it this far and the judges knew that. His Japanese snake, his Breast cancer tattoo and his cover up were all huge failures, not to mention that he was completely arrogant and overbearing to some of his skins and fellow contestants. Not watching again.

I still don’t understand how Halo did not end up in the finale. I get that Scott was going there no matter what he did – they’ve been setting that up all season, but Halo’s a way better tattoo artist then Matti who can’t do lettering. How can you be an Ink Master and not be able to do tattoo lettering? More then that the blue flower cover up Matti did wasn’t better then Halo.
As far as the America’s influence, I agree. it was great to see Sausage in the finale two with America’s influence, but Scott was not the winner that many people wanted to see. Sausage’s tattoos throughout the competition were way better, but it seemed that the winner was based solely on the back piece.

yes, Halo should have been in the final 3. what is the point of a “cover up” and the original tattoo showing right through it? “but Halo didn’t cover any cover up at all”. sure- good point. but he did an amazing job; so what if it was flowers? do people think that a tattoo artist wont do multiple tattoo’s of flowers in the career? i think he nailed this challenge, and should appear on ink master again.

I know, right? how does Scott go to the finale with a cover up using yellow and you can still see the original tattoo, when Jim Francis and King Ruck went home for the exact same thing?
Halo used some strong strategy to get the canvas that wasn’t a cover up and it shouldn’t have been used against him. yes he didn’t have to cover anything up, but one of those four artists was going to get that canvas, so was it going to be whoever got that canvas was going to get dinged for having an advantage?
