‘Survivor: Cagayan’ rankings: Spencer and Tasha become dangerous
In just a matter of weeks, we are going to be feeling ridiculously sad. Why is that? Think along the lines of us not having anymore “Survivor: Cagayan” to watch. This has been a heck of a season from start to finish with big moves, big characters, and the potential for a great endgame.
At this point, the two most-interesting people happen to be the two on the outs in Spencer and Tasha. If they find a way to survive this week yet again, then they will be in a position where it takes just one person flipping to keep them around. That in turn could lead to one of the biggest collapses of a majority alliance that we have seen since “Survivor: Samoa.”
Anyway, we are ranking these contestants based on strategy, edit, and of course the beast known as the Hidden Immunity Idol.
6. Spencer Bledsoe (last week: 7) – We put Spencer last out of logic, since a logical player would go ahead and get rid of him. We understand wanting to take out someone in your alliance, but at this point, there’s no way you are beating him in the final two. What he’s done to stay alive is too impressive. You have to be thinking that way, and you’re better off getting to the final four with your original alliance and hoping for the best.
5. Tasha Fox (6) – Almost everything we said above applies to Tasha, but we give her slightly better odds because of her recent challenge prowess. Her big danger is that she could convince some players to team up with her, or she could win out and go right to the finale. Either she or Spencer would be one of the show’s best winners, since everyone loves an underdog story.
4. Woo Hwang (5) – The perception of Woo and the actual gameplay of Woo are two different things. Everyone may label him a threat because of his athleticism, but Woo is one of the two people that we’d want to take to the end. Other than Ninja Stealth Mode, what has he actually done strategically other than follow the lead of others?
3. Kass McQuillen (3) – At a certain point, your capability to win the game has to enter the equation, and it probably does here for Kass. She will likely be in the final three or two, but we cannot see her winning against anyone left except for maybe Woo. Maybe Kass gets a generous amount of runner-up prize money, and she’s happy with that.
2. Trish Hegarty (2) – If there were no idols involved, we’d say that Trish is in the best spot out there. How nobody has targeted her yet is a mystery, given that she has made some moves and played hard, but done so without angering anyone. This is the perfect way to play “Survivor,” and you want a bigger target like Tony taking the heat.
1. Tony Vlachos (1) – Still, we have to rank Tony #1 since he is guaranteed at least another week in the game, and possibly two if he places his second idol for himself. At that point, he may be able to either win or argue his way to the end, given that there may be some bitter jurors he can use to justify taking him there. Tony’s big challenge will be come finale night, and it will also come via making sure he makes the right arguments to get a million bucks in the end without making the jury resent him for finding so many idols.
