NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Are Audra McLaughlin, Sisaundra Lewis in danger?

The latest -The first thing that we have to point out when it comes to tonight’s results show episode of “The Voice” is clear: There are three singers heading home tonight. That means that more artists are in danger than ever before, and while someone will get the #VoiceSave, they will have to compete against several other people to make it happen.

Based on the iTunes rankings for this week, it’s looking like we could have an even more complicated episode than usual … with at least one longtime favorite possibly heading home. Note that these are not the only indictment as to where an artist stands in the public, but they all play a role.

Locks to advance

Josh Kaufman – As of this writing at around 11:20 a.m. Eastern time, Josh is #2 on iTunes with “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” For a dated song, this is incredibly impressive and cements his status as “co-favorite” for the season.

Christina Grimmie – Her “How To Love,” is only a few places behind Josh, suggesting that this could be the showdown that we see at the end of the competition … and it could be a really good one.

Could be safe

Kat Perkins – Her surge to #16 with “Get Lucky” is a testament to creativity, but we’re not willing to call her safe yet given that she had to be protected by America last week.

Jake Worthington – It feels closer to a lock that Jake will advance than even Kat, even with “Hillbilly Deluxe” at #23. After all, Blake Shelton’s got himself a crazy fan base that will support Jake through and through.

In danger

Kristen Merlin – #29 isn’t bad for “I Drive Your Truck,” but there are only four people not singing for survival. We could see her performing then, and then finding a way to get the votes to stick around.

Delvin Choice – How in the world did Delvin get #41 for “I Believe I Can Fly”? Seriously? We’re surprised it’s that high, but we still feel like he is going home.

Audra McLaughlin – While America loves country, they don’t necessarily love big country ballads. Audra was never going to win this season, so she may as well be

Sisaundra Lewis – We’re still somewhat stunned that Sisaundra struggles on iTunes given her positive reviews on the show, but one of the main issues here is that she does songs that have been covered into the ground. Remember, “River Deep, Mountain High” is also the song that doomed Pia Toscano.
