ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 22 review: Did Beckett take down Senator Bracken?
On Monday night’s all-new episode of “Castle,” we had an episode that was fittingly titled “Veritas.” It was, after all, an opportunity for Beckett to finally get the closure that she has been so hoping for when it comes to the murder of her mother, and to take down Senator Bracken once and for all.
Nothing for Beckett comes easy, though, and you cannot be surprised that the same went for this particular story. After being set up for the murder of Vulcan Simmons, she and Castle suddenly had to operate on the run. She was still cornered by Bracken and his people, and for at least a second (before we reminded ourselves that she was a star of this show), we thought that she was not going to be able to make it out of this alive.
In the end, this is a happy ending of sorts for Beckett despite everything that she ended up going through. Stana Katic’s character managed to be able to have her redemption and then some. Not only did she succeed in having Bracken under arrest, but she got to do it in a public forum in front of cameras, and while also also saying that he was under arrest for the murder of his mother. Awesome.
This episode was fast-paced, crazy, and everything that we hoped that it would be and then some. “Veritas” was absolutely nuts, and one of the series’ finest hours. It also means that there is one less loose end so that Castle and Beckett can finally say “i do.” Grade: A.
What did you think about tonight’s “Castle” episode, and Stana’s performance in it? Share your thoughts below.

WOW! What a great episode. Could have easily been a two-parter and
that might have allowed the writers to explain a few more things. We
assume that Vulcan was killed by the 2 bozos that tried to do-in Kate.
But my question is “What were they torturing him for — what info did he
have? The tape? I don’t think so.
I loved the way they referred back to old shows and Nikki Heat books: Montgomery, of course; a dead guy (Smith) dying but not really dead (like one of the Nikki Heat books, etc. All the actors played their roles to the hilt. Gates was terrific, Bracken was his usual smarmy self and at the end properly fearful, knowing that Beckett had him — but in the car he still looked like he might beat this.
If we remember the “time travel” episode, maybe this is how “Beckett becomes a senator with three children”?!?!
Alsoremember back to the last episode of Season 2 when Lanie says to Castleat the farewell party “She (Kate) can outdrink you” — I guess her
alcohol capacity helped her as her potential executioners shoved alcohol down her throat.
Kate and Rick were great as Caskett with the obvious love between them showing continuously.
BUT Stana Katic in the last scene walking towards Brackett, directly into
the camera, lasers coming out of her eyes was magnificent — she is
often great but never better!
This episode is easily in my personal top five and, because it culminated 6 years of shows, may even be the best.

He was tortured to lend credence to the narrative that Kate killed him.

Hated it! I mean the series name is Castle, CASTLE! He hardly had any role in it! I mean really! And the end was way worse, they should have had something bigger planned, or at least something more with Richard! Now I just wish that when it comes to 3XK, Castle’s real enemy, then Beckett doesn’t get to do that much.

While you want more of Castle in Castle and I can understand your desire. But to understand is one thing but my thoughts are when there is too much of Castle we are not given the full scope of Stana’s talent. Sometimes too much Castle hinders and the audience is denied another memorable show. Castle is not bad but Stana’s presence and talent elevates the episode.

Yes, I agree, but they made it too Beckettish, I mean, Stana can do the work, but I just want Castle to be the important one, like now at the end of the season finale, Castle’s car was on fire, now that’s what I am talking about. Stana can do the work, but Castle would be important.

Excellent episode! Now Kate Beckett & Rick Castle can have their happily ever after! How great to see Capt. Montgomery!
