‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 4 preview: Mysteries and ‘The Monolith’
Can you believe that Sunday night’s “Mad Men” episode is going to push us past the halfway point of season 7A? That is both surprising and somewhat annoying, given that a seven-episode season has to be one of the more frustrating things possible. It’s like dining at a fancy restaurant, ordering an appetizer, and then being told you have to wait for another full year in order to start diving in and eating the main course.
Unfortunately, there is not much that is known right now about Sunday’s “The Monolith,” since AMC has managed to find a way to release even less material about the episode than usual. But the sight of more Pete Campbell, especially in regular business attire, suggests that he is really going to be working hard now on something. Will his talks about going independent actually lead to something important? That is at least something to watch, since almost every bit of dialogue at this point is important.
Also, early intel suggests that if you love Roger Sterling, this will be another great hour for you as we start to figure out more and more about what is actually going on in this man’s life right now. The last we saw extensive footage of him, it was back during the premiere when he was having his extensive sex party with a woman and a man, and also going out to brunch with his daughter, who was extremely intent on reminding him time and time again how much he is forgiven.
As for Don and Megan (who are featured in the photo for this article), it’s hard to expect much more. What else is there to say between the two of them? Don has already shown how much he “cares,” and now is the time for her to figure out how she can be happy in life. Sometimes, you just have to let things go and move forward.
