TV Quick Hits: Chelsea Handler, Joel McHale videos; ‘Simpsons’ death; ‘CSI’ spoilers
“The Simpsons” set to lose a character – Well before this season of “The Simpsons” even really got started, the news was already starting to come out that the show was going to kill off a character at the start of the next season in the fall. However, now that we are nearing the end of season 25, there is still no word on who this character will be.
Instead, all we have is this pretty funny tease from show executive producer Al Jean, who chose to compare the passing in a conference call to something else that shocked many a television viewer when it aired in the past year:
“This is going to be a bigger deal than [a major ‘Game of Thrones’ event], the Yellow Wedding! … The character that dies is portrayed by an actor who won an Emmy for playing that character. People who reported on it then reported we were killing an ‘iconic’ character; I’d like to say it’s a great character, but I never used the word ‘iconic.’ It’s a terrific character and it [happens in] our premiere this coming year.”

Chelsea Handler on new gig – Speaking on “Conan” this week, Chelsea once again claimed that she still does not know what her future holds when it comes to television, denying a report that she is close to a deal with Netflix. Chelsea is getting so much press now on her decision that she’s starting to become the talk-shot host version of LeBron James.
Joel McHale on White House Correspondents Dinner gig – Joel is going to be taking on this major challenge over the weekend, and speaking to David Letterman about it, he explained how both excited and terrified he is to do this at the same exact time. He also explained how he called every other host in the past to ask for advice, and Dave revealed that he had been asked in the past, but he turned it down.
First look at “CSI” backdoor pilot – Is there less buzz out there about a backdoor pilot that the “CSI” one airing on CBS? We attribute this mostly to the fact that it airs on a network that doesn’t get much buzz for this sort of thing.
The show would be about cyber crime, and the attached photo (via Entertainment Weekly) shows Patricia Arquette in what would be the main role of Avery. This story is integrated into Wednesday’s new episode of the show.
