‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 22 video: The first Isaiah Washington scene

You’ve known for weeks that the return of Burke to “Grey’s Anatomy” was going to be quite an event for the show, and the evidence is there even more so courtesy of the latest sneak peek from Thursday night’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

The way that Isaiah Washington is reintroduced to the cast is also pretty brilliant, since it is done in a way that is almost sinister. While speaking at a conference, Cristina is answering questions when she ends up having a conversation with Burke. However, she doesn’t quite realize until after he steps into the light that it is actually him. It’s been so many years that we find this entire exchange to be perfectly believable.

But why is Burke back now? This is not something that is entirely clear. One possible and easy explanation for it is going to be that the character was merely at this conference anyway and ended up going to see Cristina when he realized that she was there. Another possibility? That he wants to mess with her mind a little more than that. We don’t know what has transpired for the man since he infamously left Cristina, and it may have caused him to wake up and realize that he completely left behind something that would have been amazing for him. Something that could have been one of the best things in his life may now be only something he will never be able to cling to.

Regardless of what happens, we are very interested in where this story goes.
