‘Agents of SHIELD’ episode 19 spoilers: Amy Acker on the Cellist’s backstory
One of the great things about the Whedon brothers having a say in a show like “Agents of SHIELD” is that not only are you injecting a quirky sort of humanity into a superhero franchise, but you also have a massive repertoire of actors that you can choose from for various roles.
One of these said actors is Amy Acker, who found some time in her “Person of Interest” schedule in order to play Audrey / the Cellist on Tuesday’s episode. This is a character from Coulson’s past back before he “died,” but she continues to have a unique role in his life. this is something that the actress confirmed in talking to TVLine about this story, and how Coulson ends up getting involved with her again:
“Well, she has someone after her from her past. And you find out that Coulson has been watching over her and is trying to protect her. I think that once he found out about Hydra and everything kind of dissolved as far as S.H.I.E.L.D., he knew the ramifications of what that meant as far as who is out there. He realized that she could be in trouble, and so that became a priority.”
One of the wonderful things about what Acker is up to these days is that this is far from the only series where there are parties interested in her. She had an interesting role back on “Once Upon a Time” season 1 as a love interest for Grumpy / Leroy, and we’d certainly love to see her back there if she ever gets a break from filming. It is harder for her to do other guest appearances these days thanks to “Person of Interest” filming in New York.
