‘New Girl’ season 3 spoilers: Details on penultimate episode, finale
Every “New Girl” final tends to bring something a little bit extra to the occasion, and if there is a season that needs something big, it’s this one. Some fans and critics alike have been critical about most of the stories here. Nick and Jess as a couple got a little tired halfway through the year, and it feels right now like something you really want, but also something you complain about when you actually have it. The same almost goes for the Coach character, who hasn’t really had that many memorable moments.
Maybe our biggest problem is that with all of this other stuff going on, we’ve cut back on the Schmidt, and we did write this sentence in such a way on purpose. We’ve missed some of his antics, and hope that they pick up more when the show enters its fourth season. For now, we’ve got the first details on the two final installments of the season below, which sound funny if they are not particularly enlightening.
“Dance” (airs April 29) – “Jess (Zooey Deschanel) fears someone is trying to sabotage her first middle school dance, so she enlists the gang to help her chaperone on the big night.”
“Cruise” (airs May 6) – “In the Season Three finale, Jess and Nick (Jake Johnson) invite the gang along with them on a cruise they booked while still together as a couple.”
The second episode of the two feels the more ambitious of the two, and therefore the more exciting as we hopefully will see some great cruise-ship shenanigans. It forces the characters out of the loft and puts them with a new group of people, and the idea of this alone is something worth getting excited about.
What do you think: Do these titles make you more excited for what lies ahead on “New Girl”? Sound off in the comments below.

This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to NOT watch a season finale. The quotes from the showrunners themselves make the episode sound absolutely miserable. They’re almost selling the end of this season as “filler”, for what sounds like a very heavily dramatic and UN-funny start to season 4. Sadly, I’m starting to wonder if I should just cut my losses now.
