‘True Blood’ season 7 spoilers: Anna Paquin narrates somber first promo
HBO loves to use their big shows to tease some other big shows, and with that, it should not come as much of a surprise that “Game of Thrones” tonight served as a perfect platform in order to tease some of what was coming up for “True Blood” as it moves into the final season.
So if there is one way that we would describe this episode, how would it be? Think along the lines of “awesome.” This promo does a great job of setting up what is the central theme of the season, and it’s got a little bit of a political tinge to it. We see a visibly upset Sookie Stackhouse feeling like in the midst of the Hepatitis V infection, the government has abandoned her and the residents of Bon Temps, and left them all to die. Her surroundings are therefore almost akin to a disaster zone, in between the shambles and the graffiti on the walls. You also have residents of the town who seem willing to turn on each other.
While you see some characters from the show in this promo, it doesn’t give everything away at all. There is no sighting of Eric Northman or Pam, who are both seemingly off somewhere together as they try to navigate where they stand now. There is also no evidence about who the chief villain for the show is going to be. Our only major fear is that this is going to feel like the love child of “The Walking Dead” and “True Blood,” and we don’t want to have to call Rick Grimes or Daryl Dixon in here to have to put out the fire. We like the show better with its identity as an adult vampire series.
