‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 spoilers: Some assorted casting news
Even though most of “Downton Abbey” season 5 has already had its cast set in stone for a little while, that doesn’t mean that there are not a few little gigs here and there that still need to be booked. This is what this article is mostly about.
According to the Hastings Observer, a score of young actors in Nyah Braisby, Sophie Apthorp, Louis Selling, Morgan Smith, Brandon Pohlhammer, and Harry Seymour are all going to appear in season 5. These children, from the Hastings Stage Studio, will play students, and two of them are also going to be a part of the choir.
The news that is almost more important from a story standpoint than the individual names is that this could tease a return for the Sarah Bunting character played by Daisy Lewis. The last we saw this woman, she and Tom were getting closer, and the more than she sticks around, the more that we think that a possible romance between the two remains a possibility. Robert has already been made aware of possible indiscretions on Tom’s part (at least in terms of the mores of society), and it was one of the loose ends from season 4.
For those who are curious, there was also a rumor going about from Heat Magazine that actress Sandra Bullock could somehow appear on the show … but don’t buy that for a second. Even if she was a huge fan of the show, her schedule is such that she would have to take a ton of time out to travel overseas and film the show, and given her salary, she’d also have to leave a ton of money on the table.
