‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 19 review: A Callie and Arizona surprise
“Grey’s Anatomy” had a lot to get through on Thursday night, but we start with a major announcement: Cristina is going to win an award. There’s no doubting that, mostly because she’s awesome and capable of just about anything in the world of medicine.
Unfortunately for her, with great honor also comes great pressure to be perfect all the time, so the moment that she ended up having a difficult patient, she was expected to be a miracle worker. This episode in a way was about her coming to terms with acclaim, which is something that she is not entirely used to. Her success as a doctor has often been what matters the most.
As for the future of another doctor in Alex, it seems like he may actually be preparing to leave the hospital! He’s got a sweet opportunity at another practice, and while it may not work out for him in the end, he’s at least considering it. Callie and Arizona are considering something else surprising of their own: Their decision to welcome another child into the world. Who saw that coming after all their fighting?
This episode was an enjoyable hour of TV, but we cannot help that rudimentary feeling that so much of it was programmed and by the numbers. Maybe that is because we’ve seen the show for nine years; we know the tricks, and that makes us very hard for us to feel shocked at all by what happens. This was a good hour of TV, but when it comes to actually getting us talking about the show, not a great one. Grade: B-.
