‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and the next step

Is the relationship between Damon and Elena ever going to slow down on “The Vampire Diaries”? We have a hard time believing that, at least unless the two parties somehow find a way to actually stop this crazy cycle that they are both apart of. They say that they want to break up, but still somehow only end up running back into one another’s arms again. Despite all of the strength that they each have as individuals, there is still one thing that they collectively lack: Willpower.

With this in mind, it is hard to be too surprised at all that the romance is continuing in the episodes that lie ahead. There was a promo of upcoming footage that aired during the show’s panel at PaleyFest, and it featured Damon telling Elena, almost straight out of some sort of romance novel, that he wanted to rip all of her clothes off. There were reminders in here that these two are not good for each other at all, but then plenty of reminders that they also just cannot seem to stop having feelings for one another, as well.

This promo also featured the first appearance of Markos, who is seemingly the head of the Travelers organization that has become the center of this storyline. He knows a great deal of information about why both Elena and Stefan have this unbreakable link between them, but Elena isn’t exactly threatened by his presence. Why is that? IT all comes back to her seeing him as yet another ancient guy with mysterious motives, and she’s dealt with plenty of those.
