‘White Collar’ season 6 officially ordered by USA; what’s the curious part of it?
Last night, it was already looking pretty clear that fans of “White Collar” were going to have a reason to smile, and now, it’s official: The show is coming back for another season on USA.
So what is the part of the story that is a little bit unusual to us? That in their press release today, the network wouldn’t necessarily confirm that the six-episode seas ahead is the last one for the show. Maybe they really want to keep their options open here to see how the rest of their new programming coming up fares, but we feel pretty whole-heartedly that this is going to be the end for the show, even more strongly than we did when “Psych” was ordered for its eighth season last year.
For whatever reason, USA has a habit of ordering seasons, filming them, and announcing a little later on that it is the end of the road for the show. Maybe they feel like that is a little bit better of a marketing move. They did it with “Burn Notice,” they did it with “Psych,” and we have a feeling that they are probably doing it here. Do we understand why? Not exactly, since it feels like the network would be better served to make their decisions and their announcements a good while in advance.
Regardless of what decision is ultimately made by USA, the one thing that you can still celebrate here is that there is going to be some more “White Collar” one way or another. If this is the end, then be glad that there is an opportunity for Neal Caffrey’s story to be wrapped up in the way in which it deserves.
Obviously, we’ll have some more news on the show’s future soon, and to get some more updates from us via email, sign up now courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter.

6 episodes are not even close to being a decent closure on a brilliant show like White Collar. There are too many open storylines for 6 episodes to be enough unless they rush it – and I would hate that even more than being cheated with just getting 6 eps.
First of all they need to finish the story with Neal’s kidnapping. They must have had something planned to last at least more than ½ an ep. Then what happens to Peter & El now that El is working in D.C.?
Where did James go? Will he ever be put to justice or did they just let him off the hook?
What happened to Neal’s mom? Why aren’t they in contact?
Will Neal ever get his freedom? Now that D.C. just decided that he wouldn’t in the very end of Season 5, something major neads to happen for them to change their mind within 6 episodes.
Finally, we need a proper ending… And for most fans that would be Neal finding his true love, being free of the anklet and getting his white picket fence.
Some one sure is gonna be busy for all that to happen in 6 x 42 minutes!
Oh, and add on top of that the returning wish from fans to get a Christmas episode?? Nope… no can do… 6 episodes won’t make it.
USA Network is throwing out a gem and they are disrespectful to what they themselves call a “loyal fanbase”.
The fight continues for a proper ending and decent closure.
