‘True Detective’ season 2: What we know so far about casting, progress
Tonight marks the end of “True Detective’s” first season on HBO, and also the show that we have fallen in love with the most out of any new program of 2014. There’s no more greatness from Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, just as there is no more opportunity to see the great Louisiana setting and some of the show’s wonderful characters.
Now, let’s turn to another important question: If we are losing so much of we love, what are we going to see for a second season? Well, here’s what we can at least tell you about what is being planned at the moment.
1. HBO has not technically renewed the show for a second season, but it is assumed that it will happen at some point. Given that the show uses a little bit of a different model than what is average, there’s nothing that says that it needs to come on in January every year.
2. With that being said, we’d be shocked if this show is actually ready for another season early next year, given that you have to cast so many new actors and get the official greenlight.
3. We know that creator Nic Pizzolatto is working on ideas and scripts for the new season, and while he suggested at one point on Twitter that there may be a female lead this time around, he later deleted it.
4. Really, so much of the future for the show hinges on everything from the writing to the discussions with HBO to the casting. What we can say for sure is that it’ll be a separate story, and like “American Horror Story,” we would not be shocked if some cast members appear in different roles.
