‘American Idol XIII’: Alex Preston on connection to Alex & Sierra from ‘X Factor’

Even though “The X Factor” and “American Idol” may be two separate shows, that does not keep one group of contestants from mingling with the other if the opportunity arises and there is free time for everyone to do so. As busy as some of the singers are over the course of the week preparing for the show, there are some little pockets here and there that they can use to do other stuff. For Alex Preston, this means getting an opportunity to hang out a little bit with Alex & Sierra, the reigning champions from “The X Factor” (and really the last champions, since the show was canceled).

You know from our previous posts that Alex & Sierra were present at the performance show Wednesday night. So how did they meet? Speaking per People Magazine after the show, Preston said that the duo, made up of Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton, actually reached out to him:

“They actually messaged me and were like, ‘We love you! Can we go out to lunch?’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ So we went out to lunch on Sunday and just really connected … We are tight. That was Alex’s guitar that I was using [on stage]. We hung out a bunch of times this week. They are really similar to my style so we really connected.” 

When you consider that Alex & Sierra won their show by having more support than any other contestant out there, they are certainly good people to have at your side cheering you on. Maybe they will be able to bring in even more of an audience for this sensational guy than he already has.
