‘Survivor: Cagayan’ rankings: Is Tasha Fox now leading the Brains tribe?
We’ve gone through the premiere of “Survivor: Cagayan,” interviewed the recently-eliminated castaways, and have also previewed the new episode airing on CBS next week.
This all takes us to the next order of business: Trying to rank the remaining contestants! We’re going to do this by tribe until the merge, mostly because it’s pretty hard to judge someone from one group against someone from another, especially when every tribe has their own dynamic and there are things like the immunity idol to consider. For the Brains tribe, this is even messier when you consider what is going on with that idol. The impression we’ve gotten from Garrett Adelstein is that he buried his somewhere, and we don’t know how that one will be in play.
So how do we rank these castaways? We’re looking at it with the following three pieces of criteria first and foremost: Strategy, effectiveness, and edit. Effectiveness can mean anything from working hard at camp to being a solid contributor in challenges.
4. J’Tia Taylor – Is it possible that we could see her lasting another week or two? Sure, but these are ultimately rankings based on whether or not someone can go to the end and win … and there is no way whatsoever that J’Tia can do that. At this point we feel like even the Specialist could beat her in the end. The only thing we’ll credit her with is staying despite basically playing the worst game we’ve ever seen the first two episodes.
3. Spencer Bledsoe – If the Brains lose another challenge, Spencer could be in trouble from a pure numbers perspective. Tasha and J’Tia seem to be pretty tight, and we can’t imagine Kass wanting to draw rocks for him. He’s not a bad player by any means, but he better hope for either a home run or a surprise challenge victory.
2. Kass McQuillen – Kass has played an okay game so far … but not a great one. She committed one faux pas already by telling J’Tia that she was voting for, since that basically guarantees that this woman will never have her back. It will benefit her heavily to convince Spencer and Tasha to team with her, bug it’s hard to know if they will want to do that.
1. Tasha Fox – We’re not just touting her here because we picked her to win the season beforehand. Her edit was mostly favorable, even if we found her “I want to play the game” rant to be a little whiny. She also has kept the people that she wants to keep, and we see no scenario where she is the next person voted off this tribe. So while her game is not perfect, she’s at least the strongest performer on what is at the moment the island of misfit toys.
