‘Game of Thrones’ season 4: Ravens, swords, and one creepy poster

Game of Thrones -Game of Thrones” season 4 returns to HBO on April 6, and the new poster for the show can really be described in just a pair of adjectives: Trippy and creepy. It’s almost like a raven’s form of one of those old Magic Eye teasers in the Sunday comics. If you look at it at a distance, it really doesn’t look like anything other than your ordinary bird.

Then, you get a little closer and realize some of the following: This raven is one that Bran Stark would be certainly familiar with thanks to its eyes, and then there are the swords and the other jagged imagery. While the poster could certainly do a better job showing off what the premiere date is, HBO is probably banking on the fact that you already know what the date is (which is pretty understandable when you think about it for a minute).

The tagline “All Men Must Die” is clearly what the show is going for this year, given that we have seen it on a variety of trailers and posters at this point. It’s certainly effective, and also reflective of the state of Westeros. You have Danaerys well on her way to building an army worthy of taking the throne back for House Targeryan, and you also have the presence of the White Walkers and the continued battle within King’s Landing for power. We’ve just had the Red Wedding, and there are many more events ahead that could leave your jaw planted firmly on the ground.
