‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: First ‘Gone Girl’ photo features Nina Dobrev

When “The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW next week with new episodes, Nina Dobrev’s character of Elena is going to be in the spotlight. Is this some sort of intervention? We don’t know for sure if we wold call it that, but there will definitely be something coming up that puts her character a little bit in uncharted water.

This episode is entitled “Gone Girl,” and we assume that getting almost the entire gang together (sans Damon, off doing some pretty terrible things most likely) is some sort of attempt to try and figure out if there is in particular anything going on with her. It’s hard to tell by the nature of this photo just how much they know, but based on what we also know about Elena, it’s hard to really figure out if this sort of group setting is really going to work. Usually, that just causes her to rebel even further.

The thing that you do have to remember in the midst of this storyline, though, is that there is plenty of time left for things to change up once again and go in a new, very shocking direction. It would be a mistake to assume that this Katherine story would still be around a little bit later this season. Personally, we’d prefer just seeing Katherine in her actual body again … mostly because she is so much more awesome that way.
