‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: Simon Baker, conspiracy, and the show’s return
It feels like it’s been a long, long time since there were new episodes of “The Mentalist” on the air, but here’s the good news: The show is finally almost back! The date of return is Sunday, March, and the reason for the delay is simple: CBS wants to wait until after the closing ceremonies for the Sochi Olympics are over, just like they also want to wait until the Academy Awards are no longer on the air. This is a show that, after all, is already on the bubble enough.
So what we have for you now are some of the first details regarding the show’s eventual return to CBS. The title of the episode coming up (the 13th of this season) is “Black Helicopters,” and if you look at the synopsis below, you can get a sense as to a little of what is coming up for Jane, Rigsby, Van Pelt, and the rest of the group:
“Jane’s investigation leads him to join a separatist commune after a U.S. attorney is found dead in Mexico, even though there’s no record of her crossing the border. Also, Rigsby and Van Pelt convince JJ LaRoche to help them discover who is stalking former CBI members.”
Count us in the moment that the synopsis described Jane joining a separatist commune; there is very little out there that sounds as entertaining as that in theory. But on the flip side, the Rigsby / Van Pelt story has the workings of something that may eventually turn into the longer arc of the season. Given that this is a show that has never had a longer goal before, we can’t imagine them stopping now just because the Red John case is closed. Given just how many holes and loose threads there still are in that, we are certainly more than interested in finding out what happens from here on out.

Season 7 is a must. I just caught up to the show. Can not wait for the rest of season 6 but I am hoping that it doesn’t lose all of its former charm now that everything is so different with the team. I’m already losing Rigsby and van pelt. I am not happy about that.

We want a season 7. To develop Jane’s relationship post Red John. This show is subtle and I love it.
