NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: Who wants to be Annie’s roommate?

There is something very early 1990s about the upcoming 9th episode of “Community” this season, and the more we hear about it, the happier we eventually become. What’s more fun than seeing a VCR game? Okay, probably many things, but it’s so delightfully nostalgic, and another good piece of evidence that Dan Harmon really knows who his audience is when it comes to this show.

Let’s start with some of the basics: The episode is entitled “VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing,” and based on the synopsis below (via SpoilerTV), there is quite a bit to like:

“Jeff, Shirley and Hickey’s discovery of a hidden stash of textbooks causes power shifts within the group; Abed and Annie play a VCR game to decide who gets to choose their new roommate.”

Are there really any good candidates for who could join the apartment? We’re assuming that you write off Duncan and Hickey, since they both probably have great places secured already; then, you write out Chang due to his inability to leave Greendale. Shirley has a family to get back two, and that only really leaves you with two options save for some sort of guest star: Jeff and Britta. One of them has lost everything thanks to their failed attempt to launch a law firm in a tiny office, and the other one is Britta. Judge accordingly. We may just be hoping that they are candidates given that anything that puts these two characters in a competitive situation is music to our ears. Jeff may try to appeal with logic, but Britta doesn’t understand logic. Therefore, she is a perfect nemesis.
