‘Mad Men’ season 7: January Jones books first post-show role
The way that “Mad Men” season 7 is orchestrated right now is rather interesting, since you are basically getting to deal with filming a little chunk of episodes, going on a huge hiatus, and then going back and filming another chunk of episodes all over again. But, based on what reports are saying now, it appears that the AMC series is going to opt to film most of their season with only a tiny little break in between, unlike “Breaking Bad,” who took a little bit of a larger break.
What’s the evidence for that? A new story from The Hollywood Reporter, which claims that January Jones has signed on for her first post-“Mad Men” project in “The Shuddering,” a story about a woman who returns to a place from her past after having a series of visions. Once there, she realizes that there is a mystery that goes back extremely far, beyond what she even first felt possible.
We cannot really sit here and say that genre work is completely unknown to Jones, given that she did have a role in “X-Men: First Class.” It is just a major departure from Betty Draper, who started to have a little more of a prominent role on “Mad Men” last season. That could carry into season 7, now that we are seeing a different side of Don Draper and he wants to reconnect a little bit more with his children.
Are you glad to see Jones taking on some more roles, and what are you hoping to see out of Betty as we near the end of “Mad Men”? As always, be sure to share below.
