‘The Following’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Is Max the right ally for Ryan?

On this past episode of “The Following,” we had the somewhat-jaw-dropping revelation that Lily, the same “art dealer” who was a love interest for Ryan Hardy, was actually one of Joe Carroll’s followers. Not only that, but in the process we also ended up learning that she was the mother of the evil twins Mark and Luke. She’s got an entire family worth of terrible people at her side, which helps to further explain the title for Monday’s episode in “A Family Affair.”

In the preview video below, there is some evidence for Ryan’s sake that there is still an ally for him out there. The problem? This ally is someone in Max, his niece, who he does not want to see in harm’s way. She is very smart, though, and her knowledge in the world of police work is just what he could need to further investigate Joe Carroll without her putting her life on the line in order to make it happen.

For the time being, he seems to be okay with giving this idea some thought and consideration. As for whether or not he will feel that way at the very end of the episode, when there are more potential threats out there for her, that remains to be seen. We do expect another shocking episode, and for Ryan to figure out yet again if there is any way that he can get to Joe before some of these new followers do. The last thing that the man needs to do is be able to assemble an army of evil all over again.
