NBC’s ‘The Voice’ winner Danielle Bradbery on ‘My Day’ Olympics song
Given that tonight marks the Opening Ceremonies for the Sochi Olympics, it therefore feels like the perfect time to really discuss and address one of the songs being used for the television coverage of the games this year: “My Day.” It’s one letter away from being a Frank Sinatra classic, but in actuality, the song that we are talking about here is one that was recorded by none other than “The Voice” season 4 champion Danielle Bradbery.
At the end of the day, we’ve learned how valuable Olympic promotion can be. While we in no way expect this or any other song to find the same sort of serendipity that Phillips Phillips had with “Home” two years ago, it’s a tremendous platform and an enormous audience that can end up hearing it.
So what does Danielle herself have to say about getting this bit of exposure out there for the song? She explained as a part of a larger interview with CMT:
“It’s amazing how things fall out like that … I love inspirational stuff and inspirational quotes and, I mean, even better when they’re songs — and my song! That’s great. It just all worked out perfectly.”
Danielle’s had quite a crazy past year or so, to say the least. Since trying out for “The Voice” and winning, she has recorded and released a debut album, promoted it, made an appearance on “Hart of Dixie,” and then seen her single “The Heart of Dixie” get some airplay in a genre of music that is not always that easy for young women to fin a place in thanks to all the competition. Of course, the biggest challenges still lie ahead, since the platform of the show is in the rear-view mirror and you have to continue to come up with hit after hit to get as many people engaged as possible.
Happy for Danielle? Let us know your thoughts below, and also be sure to click here to see an extended preview of the entire season ahead. You can also sign up to get some great TV scoops via our CarterMatt Newsletter every week.

I’m not a fan of country music but I’m a fan of Danielle and I hope her career continues climbing. Same as Tessanne Chin.

She’s just so great.. I really hope this song becomes a bit hit because after supporting her from the voice and hearing my day when the album first came out it is just a inspirational song with powerful lyrics that many people could connect to. Another great song by her is Never Like This and I will never forget you.. Along with the rest of the album!
