‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Could Michael Weatherly’s Tony be focus of finale?
In some ways, you could consider “NCIS” season 11 to be book-ended by Tony stories if the latest news that we have to share today turns out to be fact.
According to TVLine, it is very possible that Michael Weatherly’s character could have top billing near the end of the season. For many, we know that this would be great news, given the demand that we know is out there for some more opportunities to see the character step up and take an even larger role in some cases. All of this hope is thanks in part to the quote that showrunner Gary Glasberg gave to the website:
“I’d really like to focus on and come up with something for the season finale that has a strong Tony element to it – in fact, we’re about to sit down and talk about that.”
We have a feeling that they will figure it out; in addition to giving Tony a great role front a center, maybe this would help to balance out those who feel like he hasn’t had a ton to do the past few weeks compared to Gibbs or even Bishop. Luckily, we do know that this is going to change well before the finale. The upcoming 250th episode, featuring an appearance from the elder DiNozzo, is going to give you quite a bit of Weatherly. Not only that, but there will be some other updates along the way.
Let’s just hope that you are the patient type to see more “NCIS” on the air. Thanks to the Olympics, the show is going to be on hiatus until a little later this month. But, at least we have some good news in that you can read more about what lies ahead here.

Not really, over the years Tony would have been fired numerous times.

Ziva will not be in the final, Cote didn’t sign for season 11. Accept it. A Tony final episode will be great. I don’t see that any of the characters have lost their spark. Naturally the show is different, you can’t expect it to be ‘all angst and a gun-in-your face’ feel about it. Tony will not be killed off. The cast members want to be there. I think too many so-called fans view the episodes with a negative attitude as they don’t want it to be any good. If ‘Ziva’ was still in the eps they would be great…right. Tony knows how to cook, he cooks Italian meals as mentioned in the one his father turned up in last Christmas. If you are all so unhappy move on, or enjoy the show with the other characters. Stop whining and going on about petty little things.

It’s way overdue to give Tony a moment to shine. MW is a really talented actor and I’d like to see what Tony can do as he, MacGee and Gibbs have been relegated to the back burner this season with the focus on Bishop. I like her quirky character but feel like many that she has been pushed on fans too much too fast in order to try to get us to forget about Ziva. I have said it before, we need a more kick-ass woman in the lead role. If Cote doesn’t have plans to come back I hope a future storyline will make that obvious to give fans proper closure. We have been dangling all season wondering if Cote was coming back. Now that she is filming “The 33” it seems more unlikely. I really liked Diane Neal as Agent Borin in “Oil and Water”. She has a similar chemistry with the guys like Cote did. I think that the show would be better balanced with an older kick-ass like Neal in the lead role and maybe Bishop being more emphasized as the probie. When Sean Murray joined the team as the computer whiz kid his role wasn’t forced onto people. His skills were emphasized in the right way and were shown how they benefited the team and he was portrayed as a learner. He grew into his role as the seasons went on and is now a confident, competent field agent. Having a kick-ass street savy older female and a younger more academic type tag-a-long would lead to a lot of interesting storylines. This scenario would give the female support that the Dinozzo character needs without a romantic connection. If Cote doesn’t come back, I hope any future romance for Dinozzo doesn’t happen until next season and is with a character not connected to the team. Team romances detract from the main purpose of the show and that it is a crime drama. The other reason I prefer a kick-ass in the lead female role is because of the comedic banter between the characters. Ziva, MacGee and Dinozzo usually had some kind of thing going on before the episode really got under way and it was a fun addition to the show. Bishop doesn’t have that comedic connection with the guys yet. I hope the writers restore that.

Oh, I hope Mr. Glasberg follows through and gives us a Tony centric season finale, focused on Tony. I’m missing the strong and competent Tony who knew when to be funny and when to be serious. And this was the Tony that made fun of McGee for taking bubble baths. This Tony I see now is talking about using bath beads, making casseroles(does Tony even know how to cook?), and standing guard while Bishop does his job for him. So I’m hoping to see the Tony I fell in love with, before they changed him.

Well, I don’t have as much faith as you seem to in Mr. Glasberg. And I think he is angry with Weatherly for being a decent friend to Cote.
The man is a liar and a total ass – he gives you crap and then says ‘ I am pretty sure the fans are going to be pleased” Like the goodbye Love Letter to Ziva. Liar Liar Liar. Would not surprise me if he uses ANOTHER Bomb ending and kills Tony off. Idiot Idiot Idiot.

I hope tony does get a chance to shine professionally at least, and I all so hope that it somehow involves ziva! but even if not I would welcome the opportunity to see tony as the tough investigator that I miss seeing, since he’s been relegated to talking about bath beads…

We need Ziva back… Tony seems lost without her to “bounce” off .But that does not mean NCIS is about just one character

Really looking forward to a Tony centric episode without him having to be latched with Ziva or thoughts of Ziva. She’s gone – he’s not – time to move on and give him more to do. I know its hard to believe ( with sarcasm) but not all fans watch the show for TIVA. To be fair, I also hope they tone down Bishop and focus more on the others the rest of the season. She needed some episodes to be introduced. i get it but time to let go of the new and shiny and let the long time regulars take back the stage. Love the team.

Definitely interested in seeing a Tony centric Season Finale. Tony is the heart of NCIS and Michael Weatherly is an extremely talented actor. He is funny, but let’s not forget his other characteristics such as bravery, loyalty and truth. Also looking forward to seeing the 250th episode with DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner).

Not interesting. Ziva will not be probably there. Without her, the show has no spark… really shame for fans

A Tony centric episode is something NCIS fans can look forward to! Everything that involves very little or no Bishop is welcome for me and a lot of people I know!
I just hope that Mr. Glasberg does not kill him off!
Considering the direction of the show during the last months I am not so sure what will happen and a lot of contracts are up for negotiation!
All I know is that the show cannot lose another favorite character or it will be done!

I too, hope that MW has no plans to leave. If he does then the show won’t have long. If Glasberg kills off his character that will be it for me too. I was upset when Kate was killed and then again when Jenny Sheperd and Mike Franks were. I was glad that Ziva wasn’t killed off but wish that we’d seen more of Cote in the last episodes and there had been more dialogue between Dinozzo and Ziva that explored their relationship. I felt that episode was so disconnected with them running the two stories parallel in the episode. I have felt that the episodes are not well connected this season with the exception of maybe “Oil and Water” and “Homesick” the Christmas episodes. The last episode with Bishop and Parsa was a bit too unbelievable for me. That storyline would have been a good Ziva one. It would have been more believable because Ziva is older than Bishop and having been in Mossad and being Israelis there is a greater chance of her having a connection with a terrorist in her past.

Michael Weatherly has always been my favorite but to watch how all great characters are in a backseat now because of this ridiculous Probie character is too much for me!
The story lines get worse from week to week, the fans are unhappy but all CBS seems to care about is Bishop!
I do hope that MW, SM, PP … will be offered fantastic contracts and a lot of money to shine in the back for a character no one wants to watch!
Or better, renegotiate with Ms de Pablo at least to bring her back as a recurring character!

Marusue The actress who portrayed Kate wanted to leave and wanted Kate killed. Lets stop dumping on Glassberg. If Tony is the Center in Season Finale it won’t be all about Ziva.
