‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale: A little nice reminder as per the planning
The “How I Met Your Mother” series finale, as crazy as it may be to think, is going to end up airing on CBS in just over a month and a half. How is that for a surprising turnaround? The whole schedule of things has got us all messed up! If you remember, it really does not seem that long ago at all that this season began in the first place, and we are getting very much close to the end.
Now, what is even more interesting about just how close we are to the end is finding out even more about just how far in the planning process this finale has really been. In a post on his Twitter account recently, show co-creator Carter Bays shared a picture of what was the first draft of something that could en up being the eventual series finale … with the major twist being that this was from all the way back in 2006. Seriously, this finale has really been in the works for that long. That’s a heck of a crazy thing to think about.
Even crazier? The first scene listed on the draft (which Bays claims that he does not even remember) is a train station.
Now, we do know that there was a ton of planning that went into this episode long in advance, mostly because neither Bays nor fellow creator Craig Thomas knew just long this was going to last for. On example of that? Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie each shot footage for the finale years ago, mostly just in case for whatever reason the show did not end up lasting that long.
