NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: More on Duncan’s dating attempts
Let’s face it: It’s not often that “Community” gets romantic. But, when you stop to think about it for a second, it is somehow weirdly appropriate that the one time they decide to do so would be after Valentine’s Day airs. Then again, you have to also remember here that this is probably not an episode that is actually going to be that romantic at all, given that this NBC show does like to give you some pretty darn skews on what romance is and should be. (Plus, Dan Harmon has already said that there will not be anything like what we saw during season 4.)
The installment airing on Thursday, February 27 carries with it the title of “Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality,” and as you male have heard already, John Oliver’s character of Ian Duncan is going to try and hook up with Britta. As to whether or not that works, that’s a different story. The full synopsis also teases some other stories that are coming up, including some pertaining to other people in Britta’s life:
“Professor Duncan (guest star John Oliver, “The Daily Show”) decides it’s time to seduce Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Jeff (Joel McHale) counsels him on how to close the deal. Meanwhile, Britta runs into some old friends and realizes that they have moved on from their shared anarchist views of the past. Abed (Danny Pudi) runs afoul of Professor Hickey (Jonathan Banks) when he accidentally damages some drawings Hickey has been laboring over. When Hickey restrains Abed as punishment, the two wind up spending some meaningful time together. Meanwhile, Chang (Ken Jeong) finds himself performing an impromptu one-man show for a ghostly audience.”
All of this sounds pretty fun, but there is still little doubting that the show still misses Donald Glover. Its last episode was strong thanks to its myriad of cameos, but it didn’t have the same sort of magic that we have seen in the past.
