‘The Walking Dead’ season 4: What’s the current state of the spin-off?
While we are currently getting ready for the return of “The Walking Dead” to AMC come Sunday night, why not spend a minute or talking about something else that a number of people are looking forward to in the spin-off? This is an idea that was first introduced last year, but over the past couple of weeks, there hasn’t really been that much said about it. We still don’t know where it will be set, or what it will contain as a whole.
Speaking in a new interview with E! News, executive producer Gale Ann Hurd confirmed that there is a big reason why we haven’t heard that much about the spin-off just yet, and that’s because the focus of everyone right now is making sure that the original series gets all the promotion and care that it needs:
“It’s still in the very early stages because we’ve been focusing so much on The Walking Dead 1.0. We just finished mixing the last episode of the season on Friday so that’s been taking all of our focus, as it should.”
We imagine that the next few weeks and months will be spent conceiving some more ideas for what this spin-off could be, and also the sort of new characters that could be featured. While nothing has been announced, we’d be absolutely stunned if Robert Kirkan had not given this at least a few hours of thoughts already. (We’re pretty sure that hours is actually somewhere more along the lines of days.)
After “The Walking Dead” season 4 ends, production on season 5 is going to start a little later this spring … once again proving just how busy a year it is for Hurd, Kirkman, and everyone else with the show.
