‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 14 preview: Emily Wickersham’s Bishop in a new light
When it comes to Tuesday night’s “NCIS” episode, those of you who have long felt like Bishop is too perfect or neatly-put-together may finally have something new to talk about. This character has been hiding something substantial from the team, and the latest sneak peek below (via SpoilerTV) is further proof of that.
The biggest mystery outside of why Bishop is at a batting cage in the cold is just what happened to her to be so supervised … and why this is something that Gibbs and the NCIS team didn’t fully vet before bringing her on board? Is this mysterious conversation tied in some way to Parsa? We know that the two have some sort of past, and maybe what happened there caused her to suffer some sort of psychotic break. At least having a history of episodes would serve as some sort of greater explanation for why she does some of the things that she does now.
But is she going to make it through the rest of this case without any further problems? Clearly, her history with the well-known terrorist is going to be exposed, and she is going to have to figure out a proper way in which to deal with the ramifications of that, however severe or painful they may be. We still wonder whether or not she is going to be able the earn the trust back of the team, depending on what the nature of her past with the Parsa character really is.

I disagree with the negative comments below. I think The bishop character is refreshing & the actress does a good job with it. I think they’re showing a lot of her character to introduce us to her as a member of the team. It’s working for me.

I loved Kate and was so pissed off when she was shot (but it was a cool twist, elegantly pulled off). And then along came Ziva in her slot and it was very annoying; but, then grew to where I was floored Cote would leave the show and we’d lose that character. But, seeing how great shows like CSI Vegas has reinvented themselves (very well) after Brown, Grisham and Willows leave which unexpected (but brilliant) casting like Danson and Shue… but also seeing the misses on CSI NY and Criminal Minds… was patient with the Bishop character.
I mean, it’s still early. But really like this character. And then last nights episode was fantastic! Very encouraged that this show can now go on for a at least several seasons with this casting and cool character.

Bishop is awful, and really brings the show down, her character adds NOTHING as she comes off as a barbi doll pretending she has a brain…Her presence has changed the dynamics of the show to where they will be losing an audience faster than they think… I turned if off last night as im SICK OF HER….
I thought for sure after last nights episode Gibbs was going to tell her to take a hike. but someone else who i spoke to saw it to the bitter end said he HUGGED and WELCOMED HER!! arghhhhhhhh..
so sad to a wonderful show. its DOOMED with this awful character as she will continue to pull it down till the ratings finally go so low they will drop the program

actually, she is not bad – story line was just a scramble and way too ‘disconnected’ Bishop character background introduced all of a sudden and too early in the arc for her character. Writing on the show has become the problem now – still think they mishandled the prob with Coti and should have just killed her off and let us morn. Will watch since nothing else on and BIG Mark Harmon fan

You hit the nail on the head here. There is nothing really to compete with so that’s why the ratings are still high. Used to be a must see for me, but I haven’t watched in weeks and could care less. More interested in LA – I love Chris O’Donnell. Goodbye NCIS.

Can we get rid of Bishop? Does she have to be the center of every show? does she have to be “superwoman”? Does she have to have so many annoying quirks???Show is losing is zip and becoming boring. Write her out of the show, PLEASE!

They had very strong, intelligent women on this show and I have enjoyed every season. Now I can’t stand to see Bishop so I have stopped watching what used to be my favorite program.

I am so glad I am no longer watching this dud any longer. Pity that it was once great but now everytime I read a spoiler about this season I cringe. I will be back when Ziva is back because even if Bishop is replaced they will come up with an equally horrid character.

GG way of thinking is to have Bishop in as many episodes as he can get away with, that way fans of the show will start to like her, wrong how to piss off fans keep going the way you are GG, stop trying to make us like Bishop, it won’t work.

Bishop, Bishop and more Bishop! There is nothing else NCIS delivers but Bishop storylines! I have seen enough of her already for this season and for every season to follow! Once NCIS was a team show, besides this storyline seems to be recycled! If I hadn’t watched the show since the very first episode I would never consider to watch again! I suggest to give Bishop her own spin off, her own agency or make her the President’s assistant, at least she wouldn’t work for NCIS anymore!

That’s a strange little preview. IMO it was a major plot hole that Gibbs warmed right up to her and didn’t vet her at all. If he finally snaps out of the coma he has been in all season, that’s a good thing. But like the others here, I am sick to death of Bishop at this point. Hard to get excited about a whole episode about her.

Bishops history pales in comparison to Ziva’s. She cannot create interest like Ziva did. They can keep trying but IMO it will never work. By choosing someone totally different than Ziva did they have to pick a boring character? There is NO chemistry! It is a flat show.

I really DO NOT even care about Bishop any longer. This storyline is so UNBELIEVABLY stupid – is she involved in every single thing that happens at NCIS now ? Is that the way you think people will like her? Have her be the center of the whole show?
Not working for me. I will simply skip this and likely the rest of the Season.
I don’t even want to look at her ‘surprised’ frowning face !

“Is she involved with every single thing that happens at NCIS now?”
Duh, she’s part of the team. She has replaced Ziva. And knowing that I loved the Ziva character very much, but didn’t feel that way 4 episodes into her joining the show, I’m excited and encouraged by how great Bishop fits in and the wonderful casting of Wichersham. Cote threw a wrench in the works and bravo writers for bouncing back.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! 2nd best show on TV (nod to Elementary).

I am good with just killing off the character. She brings nothing to the show. Whether that is the actress’ fault, the writers or the showrunner for creating this bland character in the first place is uncertain — bottom line is Bishop is a dud.

IMO wrong. She’s a great character and, while expected, was so happy last night to see her become a NCIS (probationary) agent.
