‘Blue Bloods’ to reportedly enter syndication with WGN America, more after season 4

Not long after it was revealed that “Elementary” had scored itself a pretty sweet syndication deal, we’ve now learned that another prominent series over on CBS is doing much of the same thing.

So who are we talking about this time around? It is none other than police drama “Blue Bloods.” Fresh off of posting some huge totals in viewers, the Tom Selleck series has scored both broadcast and cable syndication deals with ION and WGN America, respectively. These networks could start airing repeats of the show as early as this fall, following the competition of season 4.

Ultimately, it feels like this deal is a win-win for CBS, since it not only makes more money off of one of its series, but it also does so in a way that ensures that more viewers could come back to them in the future. There has never been a problem when it comes to “Blue Bloods” getting viewers, since it remains one of their most-watched shows; the problem instead has come via the 18-49 demographic, as it is routinely among the five oldest-skewing shows on all of television. Even with this, we still imagine that it is likely it will continue for at least another season or two. This is a sure thing for the network, and with it recently posting its highest total viewers since the pilot, it would be pretty awful from a public-relations standpoint for “Blue Bloods” to be suddenly shipped away now.

There are more episodes that will air on Friday nights moving forward this season, but like with an array of other shows at the moment, get ready to anticipate some delays courtesy of none other than the Olympics starting up.
