‘Survivor: Cagayan’ castaway spotlight: Tasha Fox puts her fandom to the test

Tasha -There are players every season on “Survivor” that you just want to root for, and for this one, Tasha Fox has to be somewhere on our list. Even though she does have that sort of title (former St. Louis Rams cheerleader) that screams that she is just out for fame or to make nightclub appearances, we don’t really get that impression from her. That part of her life was a long time ago. She’s now working in corporate America, has watched the show since the very beginning, and is willing to do anything to win the prize. Not only that, but she wants to do anything it takes to win with a smile on her face.

But can Tasha actually succeed on what is going to be a cutthroat tribe this season? That is a question that we will find ourselves wondering over the next few weeks until the show’s February 26. She is one of those contestants who we feel could be hurt somewhat by the twist, which is putting so many other like-minded, strategic people on the same tribe as her.

Name – Tasha Fox

Age – 37

Tribe – Luzon (otherwise known as the Brains tribe)

Location – St. Louis Missouri

Occupation – Accountant, meaning that she probably got to film the season at a less-stressful time in her work year in the summer. The cheerleading was a long time ago, but it does at least form a part of her identity still in that she keeps in good shape.

What she brings to the show – We feel like her story is one that is going to be very relatable to viewers: A longtime fan of the show who was tired of the same old grind at work, and she therefore made a decision to really break out of that and do something different. For her, being on this show was a way to get out there and see what she was really made of in the elements, and have that sort of adventure. She seems to be very self-aware, smart, and strategic. Her intelligence also comes equally via street-smarts rather than just reading things out of books. That could be very important when it comes to dealing with people.

What she will struggle in – Mostly, she has to find a way to reign most of the guys and their egos on this Brains tribe in, since almost every one of them feels like they want to be the mastermind. That is a lot of cooks in a very small kitchen that is the island. If she wants to win this season, she has got to find a way to make sure that she is constantly aware of what is going on, and not in a way that anyone on her tribe is threatened by her. That seems difficult to fathom.

Past “Survivor” comparison – In a way, the manner that she speaks about “Survivor” is reminiscent of Cirie Fields, who had a similar sort of “stop watching and start living” story to getting on this game. Strategically, though, we feel almost like she could have a little bit of Tina Wesson in her, or even Vecepia back from “Survivor: Marquesas.” She compares herself to Sandra, and while we don’t see it personality-wise, maybe she’ll have the same drive to stay in the game.

Prediction – While we think she is hurt somewhat by the twist, we really feel like Tasha could win this game. She’s smart enough and strong enough to not be a liability in the challenges; plus, we just can’t see her making herself a target very early on in the game. The only thing that worries us is that she has an interest in being a leader, but she is also smart enough to curtail that for a while. She’s ultimately one of those people who will either be talking with us in an exit interview at the start of the season, or hanging around until finale time. We’re not saying that she is our pick to win, but she should go very far if she practices what she is preaching.
