‘Saturday Night Live’: Imagine Dragons to perform on Melissa McCarthy show February 1
It was a little while ago that the news first came out that for Seth Meyers’ last edition of “Saturday Night Live” was going to be hosted by Melissa McCarthy. However, at the time that the show was first announced, there was no reveal as to who the musical guest was going to be. Given that this is the Super Bowl show, and the Super Bowl is in New York City, that also suggests that there could be some very big names in town to make an appearance.
So who has the coveted musical guest role? NBC revealed during the broadcast of the Jonah Hill episode tonight that it will go to none other than Imagine Dragons. The rock band, who are rising stars right now thanks to “Radioactive” and “Demons,” show bring a ton of energy to the show, and also a fan following that is building by the day.
While this news may now be official, we do not really take this as proof that the lineup for next week is set in stone. We would not be shocked if there are some special guests still who show up either with the band, or alongside McCarthy to take advantage of it being such a big weekend for the New York area. The only mystery is just how much “SNL” will really reference the Super Bowl at all, given that it is airing on Fox this year rather than NBC. Therefore, they may take advantage of the stars in New York, but not necessarily the reason why.
