‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 12 preview: Michael Weatherly and … aliens?

“NCIS” is going to be kicking off 2014 in style next week courtesy of an all-new episode (entitled “Kill Chain”), and it definitely looks like one that is going to feature a little bit of everything. From one standpoint, you have McGee dressed, per Abby, like he is at the top of a wedding cake. Meanwhile, you also have a case that could make Michael Weatherly’s Tony deal with some folks who want to believe that some extraterrestrial life is out there.

The good thing about this episode, at least on the surface, is that it seems to be doing a pretty good job of combining the best of both worlds for the show: It is both funny and emotional at the same time. What we can tell you is that McGee’s special outfit relates to a gala that he is attending with his girlfriend Delilah, and that at some point during the episode, the “Big Bad” for the season so far (which may be an exaggeration given that they’ve only been mentioned in a few episodes) Bertram Parsa is also going to be playing a role in things.

This is the only episode of “NCIS” season 11 so far that has not been immediately followed by an episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” with the major reason for that being that CBS is going to be looking to launch their new, Josh Holloway-led series “Intelligence” behind something that they personally believe will lend it a helping hand in the ratings. Given that “NCIS” typically draws somewhere around 20 million viewers, it seems to be a pretty smart idea. (Let it be known, however, that we’re still worried about “Intelligence” just being a super-serious version of “Chuck.”)
