‘The Vampire Diaries’: Nina Dobrev celebrates Christmas dancing with Julianne, Derek Hough

Who knew that dancing was such a Christmas tradition? Well, apparently things change a little bit when you are in a family as famous for busting out some dance moves as the Houghs. This is a clan that has become famous primarily thanks to “Dancing with the Stars,” with Derek being the most-successful pro in the show’s history when it comes to titles, and his little sister Julianne being a former pro who has gone on to do both movies and music.

In case you did not know, Julianne and Derek are also close friends with Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries,” and have been spotted at all sorts of impromptu parties and events of the years. Therefore, it really should not come as too great of a surprise at all to see the three join forces, along with Maria Menounos, Mark Ballas, and many youngsters, in what was an epic Christmas dance battle that took place on Instagram yesterday. There were dance moves, Santa beards, funny moments, and Christmas onesies that you probably did not imagine even existed. A good time seemed to be had by all.

For all parties involved, this celebration occurred during a break in the action. “The Vampire Diaries” is on its holiday hiatus right now, but will return to work early next year so that season 5 will be wrapped up by the spring. Meanwhile, “Dancing with the Stars” for Derek will probably not get going again until late January or early February, if he is still interested in taking part. That is probably around when he will learn who he is partnered with on the new season, and the rehearsals will begin to prepare them for the spring premiere in March after “The Bachelor” wraps.
