‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 Christmas special spoilers: Sophie McShera on new setting
While there are going to be quite a few people who get an opportunity to shine during the upcoming “Downton Abbey” season 4 Christmas special, one of them is going to be someone who really does need a win right now: Sophie McShera’s Daisy. This is a woman who has seemingly lost her hope of being with Alfred, and she also still works as a servant at a very busy estate. While the upstairs residents do treat her rather well, it is still hard to deny that this is a busy, stressful job.
So wouldn’t Daisy be happy to escape this and go somewhere new? It certainly sounds like it, based on the new comments that Sophie McShera gave as a part of a new interview with the BBC:
“We got to go on location in London so that was quite fun, it was nice to escape the studios a little bit.
“I had a new outfit which is always exciting. It was a hand-me-down from Anna Bates – there’s a new character coming in who takes a shine to Daisy. He mistakes her for a lady’s maid as she looks that good in her new jacket!”
So is this great news for Daisy? It sure feels like it, as you also have to wonder whether or not this could be the one thing that really serves to possibly convince Alfred that he should consider figuring out if there are some feelings there. We imagine still that this is the couple that everyone would like to see together, though it’s also hard to argue that he has not always treated her as well as he should. (Though then again, a counter-argument would be that he shouldn’t necessarily be fully responsible for the feelings that she has.)
