‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: New Christmas special scoop on the servants!
It’s now only five days until we are going to be graced with the “Downton Abbey” Christmas special, and all early indications right now are that we’re going to be in for yet another episode that is all about excitement, drama, romance, and a few shockers that will have you talking for quite some time.
But in terms for some of the servants, what’s coming up for them? Based on what Phyllis Logan told the Express in a new interview, one interesting tidbit that we can expect is a story that tries to force Mr. Carson to show his generous side in helping to make sure the servants all can have some sort of trip out of the Abbey for a change:
“I can’t give too much away, but let’s just say that something from the past rears its head and puts some of the characters in a very compromising situation. Also, Mrs Hughes has to try to persuade Mr Carson to pick a nice summer outing for the servants and convince him to do something a bit fun for once.”
Logan also shares a pair of other interesting details that you may not think about unless you are a card-carrying member of the “Downton Abbey” faithful about the reasons why the Christmas special is not actually set at Christmastime:
1. The show was filmed in August, and so it would have been rather expensive for the series to suddenly pretend like it is winter outside with all sorts of CGI snow everywhere.
2. The special airs at different times of the year around the world, and they don’t want to make everyone watch a Christmas special when it is actually not Christmas.
