‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Jimmy Fallon references Justin Timberlake (without him there)
Did you realize that Justin Timberlake is going to be on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend!? If you watch the promo below, you’d almost be convinced that the “Mirrors” singer was the host, the musical guest, the President, and quite possibly the judge, jury, and execution. He may well be Lorne Michaels while he’s at it. The most interesting part about this promotional strategy is that technically, Justin is only billed as the musical guest for his buddy Jimmy Fallon. There is no guarantee that he’ll even be in that many sketches.
But after watching the first promo below featuring Fallon, Kenan Thompson, and Kate McKinnon, you better hope that we are going to see a lot of Justin on the show. Otherwise, this screams of false promotion and ticking off most of America.
But as funny as some of the little gags with Kenan are here involving snow, Timberlake’s music, or the long-tenured cast member actually pretending to be Justin, it’s the musical number indoors with McKinnon here that is a complete win. We could literally watch these two bounce off one another and perform some made-up song about the show all day long. These two were never cast members together, and Kate was not even on the show the last time that Fallon hosted. (She joined in the spring.) Yet for whatever reason, these two performed like they have been performing together for years.
Given that this is the Christmas show and crazy things happen, expect potentially some other celebrity cameos, including maybe a few other guests from Fallon’s time on the show. Last time he was here, he was able to bring a few familiar names out.
Do you think that this “SNL” has the potential to be all sorts of epic, and how many appearances of Justin do you want to see? Be sure to share what you think below! Also, click here if you want to watch some other highlights from this season.
