‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: Danny Trejo to guest during February episode
Who is afraid of the Winter Olympics? Apparently not CBS, since they have just booked a big name in one of their most-important February sweeps episodes that could run against all sorts of athletics.
According to TVLine, genre legend Danny Trejo, who has done a variety of Robert Rodriguez movies in addition to arcs on “Breaking Bad” and “Sons of Anarchy,” (and is just all around awesome) will appear on “NCIS: Los Angeles” as a character who has some sort of ties to Hetty, Sam, and Callen. It also is a story, based on what showrunner Shane Brennan tells the website, that will take many of the characters out of their traditional element and into a completely new setting:
“It’s a big episode that takes everyone down to Mexico, where there’s a lot of action as well as character stuff for Callen, Sam and Hetty.”
The best news about this for Trejo is that this sort of gig on a popular show could help to sort of wash away the taste that everyone had in their mouths following the box-office failure of “Machete Kills.” It’s an extremely popular show with a dedicated following, there should be quite a bit to like from the part … even if it is not one that lasts for a particularly long time.
“NCIS: Los Angeles” will air its final episode of 2013 on Tuesday night, but there is not going to be a particularly long hiatus for this show in the new year. The series will return with new episodes starting up on January 14, and will then carry straight into February. CBS is obviously doing the smart thing here and loading up on winter episodes, knowing that the last thing people want to do in January is have nothing to watch when they don’t want to be out in the cold.
