After spending probably the past two seasons of “True Blood” complaining endlessly about not getting the opportunity to see Lafayette have some sort of interesting story, there’s finally some great news coming out now: A new love interest will be entering his life very soon.
According to TVLine, the HBO series is currently casting an actor, presumably in their twenties, for the role of Drake. They don’t mean like the rapper, since the role is described as a mix of Jim Morrison and James Dean, but given his role in the story the song “Find Your Love” could certainly fit. This is a guy who is going to be appearing throughout season 6, and will even be a series regular to go along with it.
Oh, and there is one other twist to the story here for this guy: He has to be very comfortable with stripping down in front of the camera. Should you really be surprised at all by this? Probably not, given that this is the bread and butter for “True Blood” these days. The bigger surprise would be finding a time when there aren’t characters taking their clothes off. Then again, there are still limits to it given that Alexander Skarsgard is one of the few to actually show it all among the guys who have been on the show.
The last time Nelsan Ellis got to play off of another onscreen love interest, it was all the way back in season 3 when you had Jesus. Even after the character died, though, the show did do a good job of bringing him back periodically; but, given that Kevin Alejandro has a new recurring gig on “Arrow” (which films in Vancouver, not too close to where the HBO hit shoots in Los Angeles), we have a hard time feeling like his ghost is going to be popping up much in Bon Temps this year.
