‘Elementary’ season 2 spoilers: More on the return of Natalie Dormer’s Moriarty
In the world of Sherlock Holmes, there is no greater villain than Moriarty. Therefore, it really should not come as too great of a surprise that “Elementary” is trying to take advantage of this to the best of their ability. While we wondered whether or not Natalie Dormer was going to be that available to reprise her role based on her time commitment to “Game of Thrones” and everything else that she has going on, the series was at least able to snag her for one episode (entitled “The Diabolical Kind”) airing on January 2, 2014.
As the official synopsis teases below, most of the drama for this case in particular is just going to come courtesy of Holmes and Watson having to deal with the fact that she could be a tool to help them … at least in theory. When you are dealing with someone this intelligent, there could always be an ulterior motive:
“Holmes and Watson come face to face with Moriarty when their one-time adversary is brought in as a consultant on a kidnapping case. Meanwhile, Detective Bell continues his struggle on the road to recovery.”
So why start off the new year with such a major story? One big reason for it is that CBS doesn’t want to compete with the Olympics, but in some ways, you could also think of it as an alternative season premiere. Just in case you’ve missed some of the episodes this fall (which is understandable given the competition), it provides a nice opportunity to dive back in now with one of the most-noteworthy adversaries out there. This is one that you have to either watch live or DVR…. you won’t want to miss it.
