‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 and the crazy Mike Tyson rumor
This is the time of the year when there are few things to write about when it comes to “Downton Abbey” scoop, and with that in mind, many members of the press instead choose to focus on a slightly-different topic: Trying to find as many ways as possible to create buzz about random celebrities trying to find a way to appear on the show. We’ve heard some pretty crazy stories over the years, but the latest one revolves all around boxer Mike Tyson.
Speaking in a new interview with Shortlist in the UK, the legendary athlete-turned star of “The Hangover” and his own one-man show suggested that starring on the ITV series (which returns to American TV on January 5) is something that he would be very much interested in doing:
“I would. I’m coming to the West End soon for my one-man show, so maybe when I fly to the U.K. they’ll give me a part on Downtown Abbey. I like that show. I’m sure they could give me a part.”
As for what we think are the odds of something like that happening … it’s pretty low. This is no slam to Tyson, but the show does not typically try to cast big-name actors unless they are a fit into the universe. Even with all of this being said, we’re happy that Mike has found his way into acting and other performance venues, and hopefully he continues to do.
If Mike or anyone else does land a spot on this show at this point, it will not be until season 5. The Christmas episode has already been filmed, and is going to air in a little over three weeks in Great Britain.
Tell us: Do you actually think that Tyson or anyone else would make a great addition to the “Downton Abbey” franchise? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and click here if you want to read some more news via Michelle Dockery on her own character.
