How’s this for an early Christmas / at-present Hanukkah gift? TBS has revealed the season 2 premiere date for “King of the Nerds,” and you’re only going to have to wait a little bit more than a month and a half if you want to see some more geniuses or masters of their domain facing off for the grand title.
According to the network itself, the show will return on Thursday, January 23, with some more details coming soon. Once again, you’re going to see nerdy contestants from all walks of life compete to show their skills in a variety of different forms, whether it be gaming, cosplaying, robotics, or something else. There was also a contest called The People’s Nerd to determine who would be voted into the contest by America, and victory went to Pokemon superfan / YouTuber Josh Wittenkeller.
In case you missed the first season, it’s something that really is worth going back to watch. As a “Beauty and the Geek” alum we wondered whether or not there was going to be anything out there in this universe still worth exploring, and it turns out there was. This show was a ton of fun, super-creative, and celebrated the nerdy contestants and all of their achievements. It’s right up there with “Whodunnit?” as the best new reality competition show introduced in 2013. (Unfortunately, there is still no confirmation on if the latter is going to return for another season.)
But in the end, we’re super-stoked to see some more nerdy television coming our way next year. It was a lot of fun covering the first season, and we’ll be back to do the same thing all over again in the new year.
