Carrie Underwood joins Rashida Jones, Jimmy Fallon for holiday singing fun

Late Night with Jimmy FallonIs Jimmy Fallon already in the holiday spirit? You better believe it. The late-night host may very well be the poster child for keeping Christmas, Hanukkah, and all other holidays alive on NBC. He certainly does more than Jay Leno or any other host on the network.

The video below comes from the Thanksgiving edition of “Late Night,” and it features Jimmy doing one of his favorite things with Rashida Jones: Performing songs with altered lyrics to reflect a common theme. This time around, the theme was turning normal songs into holiday songs. Therefore, we had modified versions of “Get Lucky,” “Roar,” “Royals,” “Wrecking Ball,” “Ho Hey,” and many others.

Just in case the idea itself was not hilarious, there was also a surprise performer halfway through in Carrie Underwood. The country superstar and upcoming featured performer for “The Sound of Music Live” went solo on “Wrecking Ball,” and even performed it in front of a sad kitten as a further way of skewering the performance that Miley Cyrus did at the American Music Awards. All in all, a good time was had by all, and it also doesn’t hurt Carrie to show that she is willing to be in complete spoof mode on some given occasions. We don’t always see that much of her comedic side save for maybe the country music awards shows that she co-hosts.

This performance was taped earlier in the week, but it comes the evening after both Fallon and Underwood made an appearance during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where they came out to promote their upcoming projects, and also got another chance to make a good impression on a young, festive audience.

Which one of these songs was your favorite, and do you like seeing these little videos from Jimmy? Share your thoughts below! Remember that Fallon is hosting the upcoming “Saturday Night Live” on December 21, so there will likely be more of this coming up soon.
