‘American Idol’ winner Candice Glover releases ‘Cried’; see the lyric video now!

Take a look -Have you been looking forward to the opportunity to hear Candice Glover’s “Cried”? Well, the wait for an official version from her Interscope label is finally over. In the video below, you can hear the reigning “American Idol” champion perform the powerful ballad, which is the new single from her upcoming album “Music Speaks” (coming out on February 18).

The first thing that you have to remember when measuring the success of this song is that its success is probably not going to be gauged much this year. The difficult thing about releasing a new single in late November is that it can disappear in the midst of all of the holiday tracks; this happened to Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me,” and it became a huge hit the following year.

However, the difference here is that we don’t expect “Cried” to be much of a hit on the top 40 charts. It hasn’t had that sort of promotion, and it is more of a Urban AC / R&B song that will play better on those radio formats. Then again, we just go back to the concern about the lack of promotion Candice is getting right now. This lyric video isn’t even on an official Vevo page for her like most other artists’ are when they have a lyric video. Given all of the turmoil of season 12, and also Jimmy Iovine no longer being the show’s in-house mentor, we do worry about whether or not she is going to get a ton of time in the spotlight with this disc. If nothing else, we figure that she’ll at least be guaranteed a spot on an upcoming “American Idol” live results show next year.

Do you like “Cried,” and do you think that it has a shot at becoming a big hit on any radio format? Share some of your thoughts below! Meanwhile, click here if you want to check out some more news now on the upcoming “American Idol” season.
