‘Homeland’ season 3, episode 9 preview: What to expect in ‘Horse and Wagon’ (video)
Where does Carrie Mathison go from here? We imagine that this is a question that Carrie even chooses to ask herself time and time again on “Homeland,” at least based on some of what she has gone through on this show already. Last week, we saw the character (played by Claire Danes) suffer through what was a shooting … though it’s hard to have a great deal of sympathy for her, given that she knew what was going to happen if she disobeyed orders Not only that, but her shooting had no real benefit for her at all, given that the same result happened that would of had she held still.
So in this clip from “Horse and Wagon,” she wakes up in bed, trying to make sense of her surroundings and what she should do from here on out. The first suggestion on her mind? Try to figure out how long she is being kept in a Naval hospital. This difference seemingly between this situation and the one from the first few episodes is that Saul seemingly has kept something from her in his journey to find Brody. She doesn’t fully know what he is up to, and why he may be bringing the man back.
The part of this scene that must for Carrie feel a little more like salt in the wound is when she gets that little reminder from the man that she is 13 weeks pregnant. Clearly, she’s got that figured out, but she doesn’t know what to do with the child yet. The lack of decision-making or confidence on her part is hardly a sign of hope for this child whenever they do come into the world (if they do, anyway).
