‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Filming is complete! Now, the waiting begins

Game of Thrones -For those of you ready to dive back into the world of Westeros, there is at least some good news officially breaking today: You’re at least another step closer courtesy of filming for “Game of Thrones” season 4 finally concluding this week. This has been a long and extensive production as always, with it starting earlier this summer. Three countries were visited this year (down from four for season 3), and it included the rare visit to Iceland during the warmer summer months. (It wasn’t a Jon Snow sequence that was filmed there this time around.)

This news was confirmed by behind-the-scenes writer Cat Taylor on Twitter, and of course now the extensive post-production process can really get going. As you would expect, much of the challenge for the show is going to come via editing all of the episodes and adding in the special effects. There is a lot for the folks behind the scenes to do, and while it may in some ways feel like there is a ton of time in order to get it all done, this is going to blow by a little bit quicker once you start to get into all of the work that still needs to be done.

This is a show that gives many people breaks throughout the year, but it really is a year-round production. Just about the time the new season stops airing and the crew finishes their post-show interviews on that, filming begins again. This is what happens when you have a show that is on this sort of gigantic scale, though some of the people who have the sweetest gig of all here are the actors. They are the ones who are able to go in, work for a few months (if that, depending on the role), and then still have the time to move forward and work on some other projects.
