‘New Girl’ season 3, episode 10 preview: Can another Thanksgiving prove to be special?

“New Girl” has already developed a tradition over the course of its three-day run in providing some pretty entertaining Thanksgiving Day specials; but can it really keep the tradition going this year? We hope so, given that something has felt a little off about most of season 3 thus far. Maybe’s it the feeling that comes when you know that your favorite couple is together already, and some of that “will they or won’t they?” tension is over.

The theme of this Thanksgiving seems to be at least a little bit different than in seasons past, as we’re not going to be looking at a turkey dinner that takes place in the loft. Instead, the group (plus Coach) is going to be heading out to the great outdoors in order to try to have a very different sort of holiday. It’s also going to get an opportunity to check out some unusual characters pairings, including Cece and Winston along with Coach and Schmidt.

“The gang’s survival skills are put to the test when Nick takes them camping for Thanksgiving. Coach and Schmidt battle it out over who is the best woodsman, while Cece and Winston bond over their mutual distaste for the outdoors.”

Given that Cece and Winston have spent very little non-creepy time with each other, this story is pretty welcome. Also, we’re not quite sure that the last thing that Schmidt needs to be doing is trying to compete with a guy who just made out with his ex … but given that this is Schmidt that we are talking about here, it will probably be pretty funny. Sooner or later, we do want to see the character turn it around a little bit. We just don’t want it to take too much time.
